WHAT SHOULD WE DO IF OUR CAT HAS STOMATITIS?

Stomatitis is a painful and chronic inflammation of a cat's mouth and gums. It can cause a variety of symptoms, including difficulty eating, drooling, bad breath, and reluctance to groom.  It is a chronic condition that requires long-term management. It may take time to find a treatment plan that works best for your cat, one hand so be patient and work closely with your veterinarian to provide the best care possible for your furry friend. On the other hand, there are also something to pay attention to in your cat daily life:

1.Change Your Cat's Diet: Switching to a soft or wet food diet may help reduce irritation to the gums and make it easier for your cat to eat. Avoid feeding dry food, which can be abrasive and irritating to the mouth.

2.Encourage Dental Care: Regular dental care can help prevent the buildup of plaque and tartar that can worsen stomatitis. You can use a soft-bristled toothbrush and veterinary-approved toothpaste to brush your cat's teeth daily, or provide dental chews or toys to help keep teeth clean.

3.Provide Pain Relief: If your cat is experiencing pain, your veterinarian may recommend pain relief medications, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or steroids.

4.Consider Immune-Boosting Supplements: Supplements such as omega-3 fatty acids, L-lysine, and probiotics may help support your cat's immune system and improve their overall health.

5.Provide a Stress-Free Environment: Stress can weaken your cat's immune system and worsen stomatitis. Providing a calm and stress-free environment for your cat, such as a quiet room or separate living area, can help reduce stress.

6.Monitor Your Cat's Symptoms: Regular monitoring of your cat's symptoms, including appetite, grooming, and behavior, can help you and your veterinarian determine if any changes to the treatment plan are necessary.
